About me
John Grieger has 34 years of bankruptcy law experience. A graduate of Northwestern University (BA-Spanish) and the University of San Diego School of Law, John returned to his native Chicago after law school and worked as a staff attorney for the Chapter 13 Trustee. After that, John spent 18 years representing creditors in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. In 2009, John started at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas in Dallas, and since 2016, he is the Managing Attorney of the Wichita Falls branch office. In 2014, John won the Impact Award from the Poverty Law Section of the State Bar of Texas after successfully challenging a violation of the bankruptcy automatic stay by the country’s largest auto financier. John has spoken at the Poverty Law Conference from 2015-2024 (except 2022). John is fluent in Spanish, and in 2016 he received the Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE), a European Union recognition of language proficiency, from Spain’s Ministry of Education. He taught U.S. bankruptcy law to law students at Mykolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania--2022) and the University of Tartu (Estonia--2024) as a Visiting Professor through the Center for International Legal Studies.
